Hello,
I am Sherri DUMBrell.
The “R” is vital in my last name. It is not uncommon to have the doctor call out “SHERRI DUMBELL, your next.” Yet, DUMBELL can easily apply to me when learning something *NEW.
November 2023 I was introduced to the world of MACHINE KNITTING. Due to a few years of health issues (multiple major surgeries) I could not work full-time anymore due to the many doctor appointments for either my husband or I. My mind likes to keep busy, yet I could not have a stressful life as my main focus was my health. Learning HOW to machine knit gave me an outlet to escape from day to day stresses. A kind of therapy.
In November, I was honoured to meet Karalyn Rainey in San Deigo, California where I grew up and was visiting while on holiday in America. I moved to Brisbane AUSTRALIA in 1989 when I married my husband Greg Dumbrell. We have five wonderful grown children. In school, I always tested with a LOW READING COMPREHENSION. Even though it may have improved, I have to read the written word quite a few times to comprehend.
I am a visual learner. Together with visual pictures, video demonstrations, and the written word I have enjoyed expanding my knowledge about Machine Knitting.
I have a very simple mind. I like to see the whole picture or the overview of where I am heading. I am a PLANNER, I am always planning ahead. For this purpose, I wanted to teach others who learn the way I do and avoid unnecessary confusion and stress when learning a new skill. I felt like a DUMMY many times when learning to machine knit. Yet, I have now come to better learn how I understand best. I want to share this journey with others!
My goal is to provide a simple and kind environment of learning.

You are aware of many books about many subjects written for DUMMIES. Well, I strive to offer a online course taking you STEP-BY-STEP in learning this wonderful skill of machine knitting.
Disclaimer: I am a beginner myself in machine knitting. I have been knitting most days for the past 18 months, YET I still have lots to learn. I know other machine knitters who join this group will have much more experience than I. All are welcome to learn together.
I just want to create a safe environment for beginners and more experienced knitter to learn together and most of all inspire each other. You participation and contributions will be valued!
